We own a large field behind our shed. We can’t grow vegetables in it because the soil is full of lead and the neighbourhood kids are back there most of the summer smashing everything they can swing a stick at. They also like to burn it down whenever they have the chance — like they did today.
It would be a great field for bee keeping because it fills with wild flowers over the summer. But I can’t risk it.
Was it kids or a controlled burn conducted by the city?
It wasn’t a controlled burn. It never is. I had to call the fire department. I went out there with a water container before the firemen arrived to stop my neighbour’s fence from catching on fire.
