This informal resumé — last updated on March 17th, 2008 — is also divided into the following categories of work experience:

I don’t mention the details of any project I’ve worked on until I’m pretty sure it’s okay to make it public. Contact me if you’d rather not see your name on this public page.

I’ve been busy since March. I don’t have time to list everything, but I’ve done a nice chunk of captioning at NIFCO (call them about their low rates; probably the best captioning rates you’ll find in Atlantic Canada); I’ve done some assistant editing; and I’ve recorded sound for a few weeks on a documentary directed by Mary Lewis about Holy Heart of Mary High School in St. John’s. March 17th to 21st, 2008
● As the assistant editor, I digitize footage for a piece about the Nobel Women’s Intiative, produced by Gerry Rogers.

March 10th to 14th, 2008
● I’m an assistant editor for a documentary about VLTs produced by Morag. I digitize and subclip some of the footage for Avid editing.

March 4th to 7th, 2008
● I create captions using ProCap for a documentary about painter Jean-Claude Roy. It’s on-the-job training through NIFCO.

February 25th to 27th, 2008
● I transfer raw HD footage to DVD for a documentary produced by Morag.

February 21st and 22nd, 2008
● I work as an assistant editor for Heartless Disappearance Into Labrador Seas, a film short written by Lois Brown and directed by Justin Simms.

February 2nd and 3rd, 2008
● I’m the sound recordist on One of Us Cannot Be Right, directed by Jacqueline Hynes. (2-day NIFCO shoot.)

December 9th, 2007
● I compile a DVD of 1930s avant-garde film shorts for an educational exhibit at The Rooms.

December 1st, 2007
● I’m the sound recordist on a NIFCO first-time film called Working Idle by Chirs LeDrew.

November 24th to 25th, 2007
● I work as the boom operator (recorded sound directly to HD cam) for a short film called Bark by Ruth Lawrence. (2-day shoot.)

November 23rd, 2007
● I’m the boom operator (no mixing, recorded directly to HD cam) for a a series of web episode by Lois Brown called Travel Anywhere. (1-day shoot.) (My name is misspelled in the credits, so this guy gets my credit — again.)

November 17th, 2007
● I’m the sound recordist on a NIFCO first-time film by Lynn Kristmanson called Snakes and Ladders. (1-day shoot.)

November 12th to 18th (and again in January for a few days), 2007
● I work as the assistant editor on a documentary by Gerry Rogers about folk musician Ferron.

October 15th, 2007
● I work as the boom operator on Matthew Kelly’s Ruins, produced with help from NIFCO and the Newfoundland Joy Award. (A 2-day shoot.)

September 11th to 13th, 2007
● I work as the sound recordist on Nial James’s Tiger Tom, a co-production with NIFCO. (Excellent 3-day shoot.)

August 21st to 25th, 2007
● I work as the 3rd AD for Heartless Disappearance Into Labrador Seas, a short film written by Lois Brown and directed by Justin Simms. I also jump in as boom operator, background actor and stunt driver. (6-day shoot; I’m on for the first 4.)

July 21st to August 10th, 2007
● I work as the assistant editor/editor for a MUN web project produced by Baptiste Neis using facilities at Pope Productions. Learned quite a few ins and outs of the Avid Xpress Pro system on this one.

June 18th to July 13th, 2007
● Among other positions, I work as a TAD (trainee assistant director) for the feature film adaptation of Joel Hyne’s novel, Down To The Dirt, directed by Justin Simms and produced by Anna Petras. (4-week shoot.)

June 3rd, 2007
● I’m the sound mixer and boom operator for Krista Hann’s My Stupid Mouth, a NIFCO First Time Filmmaker shoot. (Single-day shoot.)

May 27th, 2007
● I compile a promo reel DVD for the 7th Annual Nickel Independent Film Festival. It’s a collection of 30-second clips from ten films being screened. I select a good clip from each film and create title cards for them, nothing fancy.

May 26th, 2007
● I’m the assistant director on Monica Walsh’s Dogberries shoot, a 1-day NIFCO First Time Filmmaker (FTFM) project. One of the best FTFM shoots I’ve worked on, Monica did a great job at directing.

May 9th/10th, 2007
● I’m the video camera operator during two days of audition for the feature film, Down To The Dirt, for Newfound Films. I’ve also been working as, I guess you could call it, a producer’s assistant at Newfound Films since the beginning of May, just helping out where I can.

April 29th, 2007
● I’m the sound recordist (or sound mixer) on Emily Bridger’s NIFCO first-time film, Epilogue. It’s my first time as the sole sound mixer on a shoot. (Single-day shoot.)

April 14th, 2007
● I’m quoted in a Telegram article about how NIFCO has been my film school.

April 5th, 2007
● I volunteer as the sound recordist and boom operator on the pick-up shoot for Scott McClellan’s short film Last Chance Christmas. I think it’s through NIFCO’s First Time Filmmakers Programme, too, with Roger Maunder as mentor.

March 30th, 2007
● I’m the 2nd AD for the 2nd unit shoot of the feature film Down To The Dirt, directed by Justin Simms (it’s a 2-day shoot).

March 24th, 2007
● Sound man extraordinaire Harvey Hyslop gives me an informal but thorough lesson in sound recording, on-the-fly mixing and boom technique. Thanks, man!

January - March 2007
● I work as the assistant editor for Newfound Films who produce a segment with Deanne Foley for CBC TV’s lifestyle show, Living.

Janurary 2007
● I am the 1st AD for Sabah Hadi’s film, Furs (a 4-day shoot).

December 2nd, 2006
● I act as assistant director for NIFCO first-time filmmaker Wesley Reid’s short film Gambling with Love, working as usual with Justin Simms and a volunteer crew (single-day shoot).

October 14th to 17th, 2006
● I assist Ed Tanasychuk, the technical director for the St. John’s International Women’s Film Festival, in creating reels for some of the screenings.

September 12th to 16th, 2006
● As my second paying gig, this time through Streely Maid Films, I work on Sherry White’s film, Diamonds in a Bucket, as the assistant editor. (Someone forgot to give me my little credit, but nevertheless, I did my bit.)

August 27th to 30th, 2006
● I work on Jordan Canning’s film, Here On In, as the assistant editor. Through Pope Productions, this is my first paying gig.

August 7th, 2006
● I participate in a week-long Avid Symphony introductory workshop at NIFCO with Justin Simms.

August 4th, 2006
● My article and interview with David Francey are published in The Scope. (This isn’t film-related, but what odds.)

July 22nd, 2006
● My film short, I Want It All, is screened at the Nickel Independent Film Festival and receives a good response from the audience.

July 21st, 2006
● I finish post-production on my film, I Want It All, with NIFCO mentor Justin Simms.

July 20th, 2006
● I’m briefly quoted in The Scope.

April 9th, 2006
● Through NIFCO’s first-time filmmaker programme, and with Roger Maunder as my mentor, I direct my film short, I Want It All. (Shot on Super 16.)

March 4th, 2006
● I volunteer as a production assistant on Brad Gover’s film short The Care Package. It’s a 2-day shoot made possible through NIFCO’s First Time Filmmaker’s Programme. (2-day shoot.)

January 2006
● I finish part 2 of NIFCO film course (editing film on Avid) with Derek Norman as my instructor.

December 2005
● I finish part 1 of NIFCO’s basic filmmaking course. It ends with shooting the class film, Hard Ticket, for which I wrote the script. (Shot on 16mm.)

Februrary 2004
● I direct and edit a music video for local musician, Mike El-Gohary.
