Are good beekeepers attentive beekeepers? I think so. The best beekeepers I meet notice things in the bees I’ve never had a clue about because I didn’t pay close enough attention. I didn’t watch the bees as well as I should have. I’m oblivious to something that’s obvious to them. What can I say? I’m not always the sharpest beekeeper around. Anyway, here’s a video that shows exactly what it’s like to sit and watch honey bees all day.
Were you able to watch the whole thing?
Between the 30 second intro, and the blip at the end, the bee section was less than 4 mins long. I was promised 5 mins. Definitely feeling gypped here! ;-)
Sometimes I put the camera down in front a hive, forget about and then watch the whole thing at home, 15, 20 minutes or more. Just bees coming and going, some with pollen on their legs, some crash landing, some cleaning their antennae, some feeding nectar to other bees. Once you start watching, it’s hard to stop.
I figured I’d be pushing it I posted one of those videos.
